Executive summary
The Heart of Gold Children’s Hospice was founded in 2003. It is the first hospice in Nigeria. It is a Home for the care & management of children with mental and extreme physical disabilities. It also offers home care services to children with these disabilities living at home.
Some of the children suffer from cerebral palsy, some were born blind & paralysed, some are HIV positive, some suffer from hydrocephalus. Some of these children were found abandoned in marketplaces, refuse dumps, canals & hospitals. The Home has children on its waiting list.
